A small-time crook, Jae-moon goes after the man who killed his mentor a few years earlier. Jae-moon meets Chi-gook, a retired taekwondo practitioner who becomes his partner and goes to the killer Dae-sik’s hometown. Chi-gook and Jae-moon devise a plan to kill Dae-sik, but as the day of reckoning approaches, Jae-moon meets Dae-sik’s mother, Jeom-sim, who reminds him of his hometown. As he sees Jeon-sim worrying over her son, he can’t proceed to kill him. However, the encounter of Dae-sik and Jae-moon takes places on the village’s field day.

Delhi-based CBI Captain Neetu Singh is instructed by Chief Sawant to investigate the assassination of Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Satyaprakash. Her investigations will lead her to conclude that the killing was planned and carried out by Home Minister Bhavani Prasad Lala and Superintendent of Police Waghmare. She then meets with Fatima, and is told the story of the latter’s son, Hussain, who was convicted for possession and supply of fire-arms and sentenced to five years in prison. She meets Hussain in prison and decides to assist him, but before she could do that she and her mother, Shanti, both end up on the defensive, when evidence surfaces that Neetu had hired a hit-man, Tatya, to kill Satyaprakash. The Judge hearing this incident finds her guilty and sentences her to prison. Once there, she is tortured, assaulted, and molested by Jail Superintendent Lalkar Singh. While institutionalized, she manages to escape, and shortly thereafter, Shanti is informed that her daughter has been shot dead – leaving Bhavani the freedom to become the state’s next Chief Minister.

A serial killer is preying on the rich and influential, exposing their sexual proclivities, dismembering them and dumping them and their severed body parts in various locations around Thailand. Tai let out of prison while his girlfriend Noi is kept under close watch by Chin. Tai heads back to his hometown to search for clues about where his old friend might be. As he recalls his childhood and friendship with the troubled boy Nut, the events of the present day crystallize until Tai is confronted with a shocking reality.

Six years after Fiza’s (Karisma Kapoor) brother, Aman (played by Hrithik Roshan) disappears during the 1993 Mumbai riots, she goes to look for him. When she does find him, to her horror she sees that he has joined a terrorist group. She forces him to come home, and he finally re-unites with their mother (played by Jaya Bachchan). However his allegiance and thoughts make him want to join the terrorist network, led by Murad Khan (Manoj Bajpai). A confrontation with two men who harass Fiza leads to Aman revealing his involvement with the terrorist network in front of his sister, mother and the police. His mother’s grief and disappointment eventually lead her to commit suicide. Fiza tries once more to find her brother, with the help of Anirudh (Bikram Saluja). Aman has been sent on a mission to kill two powerful politicians; when he does succeed in assassinating them, his own terrorist group tries to kill him. He escapes and Fiza follows him. They confront each other and with the police closing in on him, he asks her to kill him. After much persuasion Fiza kills her brother. Aman dies saying the first Kalma in Islam, “La illa ha ill Allah, Mohammad dur Rasullalah”

Modern day Bombay is ruled by Bangkok-based underworld don, Khalid Bin Jamal, who has the Home Minister, A.R. Sarang, as well as the Police Commissioner on his payroll. Khalid would like to get rid of a number of thorns on his side, namely S.P. Naidu, a former aide; A.R. Sarang, who has been flip-flopping; and Bombay Police’s Encounter Specialist Suryakanth Satham. He manages to sway Sarang on his side, arranges for Suryakanth to be be suspended, charged with killing two innocent bystanders, and held in a cell. Khalid reaches an understanding with Suryakanth, who is immediately released and is reinstated – with a condition that he must kill Naidu and his followers. Suryakanth ruthlessly does away with Naidu’s followers, but spares Naidu himself – who is eventually killed by Arbaaz and Hari, Khalid’s brother and henchman respectively. It is then that Suryakanth shows his true colors – when he shoots Arbaaz and Hari in an ‘encounter’ after the violent death of the Home Minister. The Central Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I.) move quickly and arrest Khalid himself and hold him behind bars. It is here that Suryakanth will find out that Khalid is far more powerful and influential than he ever imagined – he will find his life being turned upside down; he will be forced to send his girlfriend, Shradha, to an undisclosed location – while he himself will be suspended again pending an inquiry into his conduct – while Khalid, with the help of aspiring Chief Minister, Devki Wardhan, will soon be given a clean chit by the C.B.I. themselves.

For this purpose, he is asked to tender his resignation, to which he agrees. And it is this decision that will result in his arrest for Extortion and accepting bribes.

Aditya wants to take the matter to court and chooses Payal as his lawyer. However, after losing the case, Aditya decides to take matters into his own hands by holding the three until they confess their crime. This was successful and, having secretly recorded this evidence, shows it to the Police Commissioner.

Shivam returns to his aimless lifestyle, this time in Hong Kong, still continuing to work for Bharat. When Bharat asks him to spy on his Pakistani mistress, Reema, Shivam does so, and finds out that she has a lover named Bilal. Shivam agrees to it but finally has a change of heart when he sees parallel between Reema and the caged birds Aaliyah used to sell to people for the purpose for freeing them from the cage. This leads to a face off between Shivam and Bharat leading to the movie’s climax.
